At the listing stage, for the rural areas, all the households are assigned codes 1, 2 or 9 in col. 5 of block 6 ( sch. 0.1) according to whether they belong to the three groups, namely (i) households self-employed in non-agriculture, (ii) rural labour household and (iii) other households, decided on the basis of their means of livelihood. But at the time of detailed enquiry (i.e. when schedules 10 and 1.0 will be canvassed in the sample households),each of the sample households will be assigned a 'type' code, the one appropriates for the sample household will be chosen.
