The reference period to be used for these items are either the date of survey or that last 365 days preceding the date of survey.
Item 1: :Purpose fuelwood used for: Firewood is still the fuel used in rural India. If no, or an insignificant amount of, fuelwood is reported to have been used by the household during the last 365 days, code '9' will be entered in this item. Otherwise, i.e. if fuelwood is used by the household, an appropriate code from 1 to 5 will be entered in this item. The codes are as follows:
